SELL YOUR STUFF

WHAT DO WE BUY? – Click the item you’d like to learn more about.

WHAT DO YOU GET WHEN YOU SELL?

All offers are made in store credit.

Credit never expires. It’s saved in our system under your name and phone number until you use it, or redeem it for cash.

Credit can be redeemed for 50% in cash at any time. $10 in store credit = $5 in cash.

Cash amounts $50 and above will be written as a check.

HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT SELLING?

Bring by the items you’re interested in selling. There’s a black counter right by the entrance where we’ll process your items and let you know what we can offer. If there’s anything we can’t buy, we’ll let you know, and you can either donate them to us or take them back.

During busier times (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays especially), we may ask you to leave your items, name, and phone number with us until we can get to your items. Once we get a chance to process your buyback, we’ll give you a call and let you know what we can offer and if there were any items we couldn’t buy. Processing times may vary.

Wondering what exactly “processing” means? Click here to learn more.

Have a large amount you’d like to sell? If you have more than 4 bags or boxes, we ask that you drive around the back of the store and ring the bell to the left of the silver garage door. It’s best to do this Monday through Thursday before 4 PM, otherwise we can’t guarantee we’ll get to your items the same day you drop them off.

HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT DONATING?

Bring by the items you’d like to donate. We have a canvas bin by our entrance you can place all your donations into, either loose or in bags/boxes. Every time you donate to us, you get a 15% off coupon you can use the same day, or save for another time. Our donation coupons typically expire after a month or two.

Stop by when we’re closed? You can drop your donations in the purple bin right outside our entrance.

Worried about carrying heavy books into the store? We have shopping carts available for your use, or you can ask a bookseller for assistance.

What do we do with the donations? Donations make up the majority of the books our shelves. Anything we don’t sell, we work with a charity called Faith Kenya Mission that donates books to Kenya for people learning English. Learn more about them here.

Are there any items we can’t take as donation? We can’t accept encyclopedias, magazines, VHS tapes, or cassette tapes.

Below is a list of the items we’ll buy and their qualifications:

BOOKS: We’ll consider buying any books published in the last 10 years.

Children’s books, cookbooks, and textbooks are included in the books we’ll consider buying from the last 10 years.

There are certain books we’ll consider buying regardless of the year they were published including: classic literature, Stephen King, Harry Potter, manga, graphic novels, RPG (role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons) books, science fiction, fantasy, large print, Easton Press, and Franklin Press.

Subject to change. Some exceptions apply.

There are also certain books that aren’t included in the 10-year rule. Study guides and college prep books including but not limited to SAT, ACT, and GRE practice tests we can only buy if they were released in the last 2 years. Harlequin romances we can only buy from 2024 or 2025. Travel guides we can only buy if they’re more recent; we don’t have a specific year range, but the more recent the more likely we’ll be able to buy it.

We don’t typically do any kind of appraising for rare or old books. We can only take vintage books (pre-1970s) as a donation. Not sure how to find the value of a rare or old book in your possession? Enter your book’s information into AbeBooks.com to learn more. We are not associated with AbeBooks, we’re just aware of this as a resource for researching rare/old books.

Any books we can’t buy, you can donate them to us for a 15% off coupon. Damaged books (rips, water damage, stains, etc.) can be donated to us, but we cannot buy them even if they otherwise qualify.

DVDs, BLU-RAYS, and DVD BOXSETS: We can only buy single DVDs if they’re new and still shrink-wrapped. Blu-rays and DVD boxsets we’ll buy if they’re new OR used of any age.

We offer a flat rate for DVDs, Blu-rays, and DVD boxsets. Flat rates are subject to change.

We can only buy used Blu-rays and DVD boxsets that are in their original cases with their original artwork, and we can’t buy scratched or loose discs. You can donate used single DVDs and scratched or loose discs to us for a 15% off coupon.

We don’t buy CDs, new or used, but you can donate them to us for a 15% off coupon.

We can’t accept VHS tapes or cassette tapes for donation.

VIDEO GAMES: We’ll buy new OR used video games of any age.

Video game discs need to be in their original cases with their original artwork, and need to have some form of barcode to scan. We can’t buy scratched or loose video game discs. Any scratched or loose discs you have can be donated to us for a 15% off coupon.

We CAN buy cartridge video games without their cases (like Nintendo 64 or DS games).

We will consider buying video games consoles/accessories. We may ask you to leave your video game console/accessory with us with your name and phone number so we can test said console/accessory. After we test your console/accessory, we’ll give you a call and let you know what we can offer you.

RECORDS: We’ll buy records regardless of age with their original sleeves only.

We offer a flat rate for records. Flat rate subject to change.

We can’t buy scratched records, boxed sets of records, 45s, or 78s. Any loose or scratched records, boxed sets, 45s, or 78s you have can be donated to us for a 15% off coupon.

COMIC BOOKS: We’ll buy comic books of any age.

We offer a flat rate for comic books. Flat rate subject to change.

Sleeves or covers are not necessary for us to buy your comic books. We can’t buy damaged comic books. Any damaged comic books you have can be donated to us for a 15% off coupon.

BEANIE BABIES: We’ll buy Beanie Babies of any age with their original tags only.

We offer a flat rate for Beanie Babies. Flat rate subject to change.

Beanie Babies must be clean in order for us to buy them.

Any Beanies Babies without their original tags and smaller Beanie Babies (like the McDonald’s toy ones) you have can be donated to us for a 15% off coupon.

HOW DO WE PROCESS THE ITEMS YOU’RE SELLING?

For books and video games: we use a system called Neatoscan. We scan each book and video game’s ISBN into Neatoscan, and information from the internet and our store is collected to produce a price. Three main things determine the price, including but not limited to: the publishing date, the popularity (overall, not just in our store), and how often we receive the book/video game. If you’d like some examples, see below:

  • A popular and recent title like The Women by Kristin Hannah will get you more in store credit than an older title, even if that older title is also popular, like All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.
  • A recent title that isn’t all that popular, like Danielle Steel’s newest novel, won’t get you much store credit even though it’s recent.
  • A James Patterson novel (even if it’s recent) will likely not get you much credit, because, while James Patterson is a popular author, we get his books in all the time not just through selling, but through donation as well.

Overall, it’s a combination of how recent and popular a book is, and how often we get that book in that determines what we’re willing to pay for it (This applies to video games too. Games for older consoles will not be worth as much as a game for a console that was just released. We’ll pay less for a PS2 game than a PS5 game). Not satisfied with our offer? Speak up! We’re willing to negotiate.

Why are there no actual prices listed with the examples? Because the prices change EVERY DAY. A book’s popularity changes day-to-day, which means what we’re willing to pay for a book will also change day-to-day.

For DVDs, Blu-rays, DVD boxsets, records, comic books, and Beanie Babies: since we buy all of the previously mentioned items for flat rates, we simply count them up. We do check DVD/Blu-ray cases and records to make sure discs are present and not scratched.
